We sure got ourselves a lesson in how to play hockey last night. The Australian team showed us why they are the best team in the world and by a very long way. Losing 8-3 is humiliating and I wish the team learns fast enough. The Aussies were faster, bigger and stronger than us and their ball skills at speed were nothing short of breathtaking.

Well, we have played our first 9's game and no doubt you have seen it. It was a very good game from a spectacle point of view, far better than the first game Australia Vs Pakistan.

This was our first outing against quality opposition. The Australian team was as I thought a very, very good team. As I was speaking to Rick Charlesworth after the game, most of these boys are competing for positions in the Australian Olympic team.

Are we to believe that Hockey India didn’t know Harendra Singh was joining World Series Hockey? Is Hockey India that naïve? Or was it a negotiation trick by Harendra Singh who knew that the moment he would sign the papers as the junior India coach, WSH would call and re-negotiate with him and take him on board?
