New Delhi: Indian hockey team on Monday night received a tumultuous welcome on their arrival after their commendable stint in Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament in Malaysia.
Indian Olympic Association-appointed selection committee head Aslam Sher Khan was at the airport to receive the team, which returned after an impressive show by defeating four Olympic qualifiers on the trot.
Coach AK Bansal said the players were not under any kind of pressure despite the controversies regarding the team's selection prior to the event.
"The players were totally relaxed in the field and without any negative pressure. That's why they performed so well," Aslam said.
"We didn't think that we would be able to make a comeback. The margin of defeat was wide and situation was grave. However, the boys didn't gave up and reached the final," he said.
Sandeep Singh, the highest scorer in the tournament, said, "It really feels good to make such a comeback after a long time."
"The training camp prior to the tournament helped us to set a positive mindset towards the game," Sandeep said.
Pargat Singh, manager of the team said, "We had nothing to lose and the players gave their all out effort. After the initial defeats we successfully analyzed the problems and came out strongly in the next matches."

Just amazing how a single person can ruin efforts of thousands, in this case, the point is proven...I hope Mr. Khan upholds takes Indian Hockey out of its current mess like a true sports man - WELL DONE TEAM INDIA

Positive begining for the new comittee.It was a commendeble show at the azlan shah.I guess some senior players would have definetly made the difference.Hope to see a good blend of experie4nce and youth in the near future to get the tri colour up in the hockey world.all the best.
