Re: Sandeep Singh back in Azlan team
Here we go again. The merry-go-round has begun, even before the dust has settled. Why leave out Prabjhot? Do we have another left winger? This would only make the opposing teams exploit the Indian left with much success. I'm really not sure if the new era should be handed over to ex-players without proven management skills. Besides, too many cooks spoil the broth. They maybe great players. But are they the modern managers which Indian hockey desperately needs? Modern sport is as much about good governance as it is about good players. I see the ship, once again, to be rudderless. //

Re: Sandeep Singh back in Azlan team
I fear that this team will be a disaster. There is no experienced deep defender in this team. Sandeep may be a booster as a drag flicker but William Xalco should have been included. Half line seems O.K. I hope selection committee knows enough about these forwards. I don’t see scoring power in them. Gagan, Prabjot, Rajpal and Deepak Thakur should have been given chance. I am hoping best for the team; May be selections committee sees more in these boys than we do.

Re: Sandeep Singh back in Azlan team
How about Jugraj Singh? He came back good after the Jallander accident but he seems to have been forgotten. He is a brave player who as also hailed by Pakistan drag flicker Sohail Abbas after they lost 7-4 to India. Jugraj blocked most of Sohail's drag flicks and even took some of them on his body. In one case in the same match, he reached the ball before Sohail Abbas could even drag-flick it and pushed the ball away. Later on a question of his failure to convert the penaltly corners, the world's most feared drag-flicker of that time (Sohail Abbas) said that he was rendered helpless by the daunting bravery of Jugraj Singh. He said, "Main kya karoon us ladke ko to jaan ke bhi parwah nahi".
Jugraji is the right combination of - high spirits, speed, skill and bravery. Why is he not being considered?

Re: Sandeep Singh back in Azlan team
they need to bring back len, jugraj, gagan and deepak thakur and then appoint ric as coach. Rajpal and Prabhjot should not have been dropped. they along with the entire team underperformed in santiago but we have to regroup, coach and then throw the team out mentally with a different stance rather than bringing about such radical changes prior to a medal winning chance touremant.

Re: Sandeep Singh back in Azlan team
well it was another disapointment we lost the tourny due to lack of experience.
in the backline Innocent kullu and Diwakar had absolutely no confidence in their play which was proven with their poor showings. the lack of william xalxo was blatantly obvious as the majority of end balls were stopped by either ranjit (lone bright spot in defense) or sardar who had to drop back too much to give extra cover. In the front line shivendra and sunil were definatley not creative enough and should have on many occasions done stuff on their own rather than leaving the ball to mids like sardar, gurbaj or Lakra.
had rajpal or prabhjot or tushar been in the team they would have been able to carry the team forward with confidence rather than levaing the ball weakly beyond the attacking 25
