Perth: India are still in contention to make it through to the championship match of the Perth 4 Nations Tournament after a solid 3-1 victory against China in round 3 of the tournament.
The game was played at a fierce pace, with China looking to move the ball as fast as possible to create some fast break opportunities.
However it would be India who found their way onto the scoreboard first, using team work to penetrate the Chinese circle and catch the goalkeeper off guard at the 15 minute mark..
Despite some near opportunities for both teams the score line remained the same for the first half.
Although they trailed on the scoreboard China looked more efficient in front of goals, with India wasting several opportunities.
Eventually India paid the price for their inaccuracy after China found an equalising goal at the 50 minute mark from a penalty corner attempt.
However China’s joy was short lived as India regained the lead only a minute later despite an attempted saved from the Chinese defenders on the goal line after the keeper had been drawn out.
India went on to control the remainder of the half and scored once more at the 66 minute mark to put the result beyond doubt.
India must now wait for the result of the Kookaburras v Korea round 3 match this afternoon to see if their goal difference tally is enough to push them through to the championship match on Sunday.
