For Indian coach Harendra Singh losing to the Australian development side must sure come as a setback. But for the former Indian hockey consultant and now Kookaburras coach Ric Charlesworth there was plenty to cheer about the future of Australian men’s hockey when they defeated the Indian senior squad in Brisbane.
India did try to comeback into the match delayed on several occasions due to heavy rain but the Australian development squad were always in front through the match.
Striker Jason Wilson commenced Australia’s scoring tally at the 10 minute mark, however India quickly struck back, converting a penalty stroke at the 16 minute mark.
Two quick penalty corner goals to Nick Budgeon and Joel Carrol respectively established a much deserved half time lead.
Although India were the first to score after half time, Australia continued to produce in front of goal, scoring a total of five goals to secure the victory.
