It’s been hockey’s biggest press conference in a while. The buzz word for some time now has been the World Series Hockey. A few weeks back a few calls had come in asking about a league being formed that would change the face of the game.

For Narinder Batra, Hockey India general secretary, hockey leagues can spring up everywhere. But most importantly they need to have the sanction of Hockey India. Amitesh Srivastav spoke to Narinder Batra about the Indian Hockey Federation proposed league in association with Nimbus.

It’s a decision the two-time Olympic captain had been mulling over. Finally, after a week of giving it some thought and knowing the way Indian hockey works, Pargat Singh, has thrown his stick into the ring. The burly Sardar, one of the best defenders this country has seen has agreed to join in as Chairman of the Technical Committee, Hockey India. In other words, he decides the path that Indian hockey would take and next month also decide on who will be the new Indian coach.
