Barely days after the teams were announced for the World Series Hockey, six big players have pulled out of the series.

Little underdone but India does well

Well, our first two games have finished. Our preparation was hampered a little. We arrived three days before the tournament and had three training sessions on a dry turf. Two practice games organised but were washed out, so we entered the first game a little underdone.

Analysis, heat charts and the quest for qualification

Well, we have just had our first day and it's pouring here; just after we finished training. The problem was there was no water for the pitch so we had to cut down the intensity of the training.

Nobbs wanted neutral umpires for Ind-Pak match

It’s been a few days since the controversial match against Pakistan with Indian players being suspended. It’s really upset me and the team. Even before the Pakistan match, I was anxious.

Australia gave us a hockey lesson: Nobbs

We sure got ourselves a lesson in how to play hockey last night. The Australian team showed us why they are the best team in the world and by a very long way. Losing 8-3 is humiliating and I wish the team learns fast enough. The Aussies were faster, bigger and stronger than us and their ball skills at speed were nothing short of breathtaking.

Need to improve instead of believing we are good: Nobbs

Well, we finished the Super Series as I thought we would; 3rd or 4th. It was a very interesting learning experience for me and I hope for the team too.

NZ thrash India 6-3; Nobbs to change tactics

Well, we have played our first 9's game and no doubt you have seen it. It was a very good game from a spectacle point of view, far better than the first game Australia Vs Pakistan.

India beat NZ 5-4; Nobbs confident of Super 9s

Well, another game under our belt. We started off playing very well. We had more room to play our style and that paid off early.

We lost but learnt: Nobbs

This was our first outing against quality opposition. The Australian team was as I thought a very, very good team. As I was speaking to Rick Charlesworth after the game, most of these boys are competing for positions in the Australian Olympic team.

To be the best, you have to play the best: Nobbs

Michael Nobbs keeps his comments strictly to the sport. You can play around with words, ask him loaded questions but all that you get is – “let’s stay with the sport.”
