New Delhi: The newly-appointed ad hoc committee of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) is contemplating arranging a test series against Pakistan after the Beijing Olympic Games.
The ad hoc committee has discussed the probability of the home-and-away series with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), PHF spokesperson Altaf Sabir said here today.
"We have told them that Pakistan is keen to have this series as it would help both the countries try out new players and gain competitive exposure," Sabir said.
Sabir said Pakistan would remain busy with their Olympic preparation in the next few months and "the modalities of the series could be worked out only after the Beijing Games."
In 2006, the two neighbouring countries had played a six-match home-and-away series.

Re: Indo-Pak series after Beijing Games
Please stop playing any hockey series for the time being. IOA should hand over the training of team to Ric Charlesworth assisted by coaches with a base of scientific knowledge and experience (need not be Olympians). They should plan and peirodise the training programme in preparation for 2010 Commonwealth and World Cup, rather than spending time and money on playing immediate series. Let them select around 60-80 players and place at least 4 coaches under supervision of Ric giving tips time to time and eliminating the players who does not suffice the fitness and playing skills according to Ric. Let the team start from the scracth and start training from general phase, specific then into competition phase. But ofcourse they should also select the number of build up competitions from time to time to find the pros and cons of the team, where it lacks and rectification could be made from time to time. See Australia, they dont go for playing all tournaments through out the year. They organised a double leg 4 nations to asses the teams performance and also used it as a build up one for the Olympics. They were winners in last Azlan shah, but they kept out this year to prepare drastically for Olympics. Choose your right competitions for build up of the team and let us not keep the sentiments of playing test matches against Pakistan. This will do no good for Indian hockey if India has to prove it out in 2010.

Re: Indo-Pak series after Beijing Games
Its pleasing to know that India is playing some international matches. I hope with the disbading of the IHF we will play a lot more test matches and tournaments. There is nothing wrong with hockey in the country except the administration. Hope things improve now and fast All the Best Amit dudani
