Days after stalwart Dilip Tirkey opted out of the Premier Hockey League, forward Bruno Logun also decided to give the event a miss, giving it another jolt with just three weeks to go for the start. Logun has chosen to concentrate on rehabilitation from an injury sustained four months back.
The 18-year-old, who plays for Air India on a sponsorship, is the second casualty after Tirkey withdrew from the tournament also citing injury. Logun was also in the Orissa Steelers team, which will now be captained by national captain Prabodh Tirkey.
National team physio Srikant Iyengar said, "Bruno had a hamstring partial tear on his left leg four months ago. It had healed completely but the muscle shortened due to lack of required strength."
"He has been experiencing mild stiffness during high intensity running, though he has recovered pretty well from the injury. He will not be able to give his best in back-to-back matches in PHL. Recurrence of the injury can be avoided by total rest for three weeks or so."
