New Delhi: Former national captain Ajit Pal Singh, member of the five-member selection committee, today said the Indian Olympic Association had no option but to dissolve the IHF.

"It seems there was no alternative before the IOA but to dissolve the IHF. There was increasing pressure on the Federation from Sports Ministry and FIH after the poor performances of the team."

The newly-appointed selection committee is headed by former great Aslam Sher Khan and also includes other stalwarts such as Zafar Iqbal, Ashok Kumar and Dhanraj Pillay.

Ajit Pal was not sure what the committee will do next, but asserted that it will be accountable.

"I cannot say at this point what will happen next. All the committee members are players only. So if standard of hockey goes down, all of us will be punished. So we will work

on the game sincerely and will try for the betterment of Indian hockey.
He said the former players will not bow down to pressure in team selection.

"Whatever decisions will be taken will be in the best interests of the game. There will be no pressure, no individual interest. We will take decisions after thorough discussions," Ajit Pal added.

Re: IHF had to be dissolved: Ajit Pal

I think as Ajitpal has said that they will do their work sincerely and no body should doubt it. Indian Hockey needs a adminstrator who can organize the federation in to one cohesive unit. I think may be PSB chairman who have run a good hockey program or Namdharis President who is running a good program can be given a charge to handle adminstration on interim basis untill new elections to IHF are conducted. If we remember correctly IOA had given the handling of IHF to Punjab Government under Giani Zail Singh in 74 and they did a good job and India came back with World Cup. At that time also IHF was in turmoil so let Aslam and company handle technical aspects of game and adminstration be handed to some able people.

This is the best thing to have happened to Indian hockey and is heartening to see former players being involved. Best wishes to Indian hockey and Congrats on the new move (sackign the IHF). Its come 15 years too late- never mind!!

After repeated poor performances for years and KPS Gill in office for 15 years, he had to say that hockey is not instant coffee. Jyothi Kumaran says its undemocratic to sack them. Running an organization for 15 and more years and not being accountable is not too democratic either.

Technical comitte is very good we need the man who can make resources for the sufficent funds for the Game and all one time we should clean all from old system Carvalho also ,coz he is not listening to RIC .I think in technical or other Pargat Singh should be there and for Marketing BHA 's president will be ther eas a chief ,he is very good at marketing as i think.
But the results will be better now that i m sure .

Re: IHF had to be dissolved: Ajit Pal

Ajit Pal was one tall olympian who has been supporting Killer Gill and his smiling assasin Jothikumaran. He was Government Nominee for the Indian hcokey for donkey years. I have a copy of all the reports he wrote as government nominee. He has never never metioned single bad things about GIll or Jothikumaran. Now that the both have booted out of power, this chamelian has changed his colours and says bad words about Gill. As long as personalities like Ajit Pal behaves like this, there is now Indian hockey will come up again.
